SSC GD - 10 things to know with detail
SSC GD stands for Staff Selection Commission General Duty, which is a recruitment exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for the post of Constable (General Duty) in various government departments and ministries.
The exam is conducted in three stages - Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Physical Standard Test (PST).
The CBT consists of four sections - General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge & General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, and English/Hindi. Each section consists of 25 questions, with a total of 100 questions and a total duration of 90 minutes.
The PET consists of physical tasks such as running, long jump, and high jump, which candidates must successfully complete in order to qualify for the next stage.
The PST involves measurements of height, chest, and weight to ensure candidates meet the physical standards required for the post.
The exam is open to candidates between the ages of 18-23, with relaxation in age limit for reserved categories as per government rules.
Candidates must have passed Class 10th from a recognized board in order to be eligible to apply for the exam.
The exam is conducted annually, and the notification for the exam is released on the official SSC website.
The selection process includes a written exam, physical tests, and document verification.
Candidates who qualify all stages of the exam are appointed as Constables (General Duty) in various government departments such as CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NIA, SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles.
