Charanjit Singh Channi is an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress party.
He was born on March 1, 1962, in Chamkaur Sahib, Rupnagar district, Punjab, India.
Channi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
He started his political career as a member of the Punjab Youth Congress and later became the President of the Punjab Youth Congress.
Channi was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Chamkaur Sahib constituency in Punjab in 2012 and 2017.
In 2019, he was appointed as the Minister of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Employment Generation, and Tourism and Cultural Affairs in the Punjab government.
Channi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab on September 20, 2021, succeeding Amarinder Singh.
