NEET-UG - 10 things to know with detail
  • NEET-UG stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate courses. It is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses in India.
  • NEET-UG is the only entrance exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical courses in India, except for AIIMS and JIPMER which conduct their own entrance exams.
  • The exam is conducted once a year in offline mode (pen and paper-based) and consists of multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology).
  • NEET-UG is open to Indian citizens as well as Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Non-Resident Indians (NRI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and foreign nationals.
  • To be eligible for NEET-UG, candidates must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission and have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
  • The exam duration is 3 hours and consists of 180 questions with a total of 720 marks. Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
