Anurag Thakur is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He is currently serving as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from the Hamirpur constituency in Himachal Pradesh.
Thakur was born on October 24, 1974, in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. He comes from a political family, as his father, Prem Kumar Dhumal, is a former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Arts from Doaba College in Punjab and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University Institute of Information Technology in Himachal Pradesh.
Thakur has been actively involved in politics since his college days and held various positions within the BJP's youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). He served as the President of the BJYM from 2006 to 2010.
In 2008, Thakur was elected as a Member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Hamirpur constituency. He was re-elected in 2012 and served as a Cabinet Minister in the Himachal Pradesh government.
Thakur has been credited with several initiatives during his tenure as a Minister, including the introduction of the 'Chief Minister's Helpline' for grievance redressal and the launch of the 'Jan Manch' program for public interaction.
In 2014, Thakur was elected as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from the Hamirpur constituency. He has since been re-elected in the 2019 general elections.
