JEE Advanced Result - 10 things to know with detail
  • Background: JEE Advanced is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission to various undergraduate programs in engineering, architecture, and science.
  • Results Date: The JEE Advanced result is usually declared in the month of June. The exact date is announced by the organizing IIT after the completion of the exam.
  • Mode of Declaration: The JEE Advanced result is declared online on the official website of the exam. Candidates can log in using their registration number and password to check their result.
  • Scorecard: The JEE Advanced result includes the score obtained by the candidate in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the exam. It also includes the qualifying status of the candidate for admission.
  • All India Rank (AIR): Along with the scorecard, candidates are also assigned an All India Rank based on their performance in the exam. The AIR is used for seat allocation and counseling process.
  • Category-wise Rank: In addition to the AIR, candidates are also assigned a category-wise rank based on their performance in their respective category (General, OBC, SC, ST).
  • Cutoff Marks: The JEE Advanced result also includes the cutoff marks for qualifying the exam. Candidates must score equal to or above the cutoff marks to be eligible for admission.
  • Tie-breaking Criteria: In case two or more candidates secure the same marks in the exam, tie-breaking criteria are applied to determine their ranking. Factors like marks in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and age are considered for breaking the tie.
  • Counseling Process: After the declaration of the JEE Advanced result, a centralized counseling process is conducted for seat allocation in the IITs and other participating institutes. Candidates must register and participate in the counseling process to secure admission.
  • Score Validity: The JEE Advanced score is valid for one year only. Candidates who wish to take admission in the following year must appear for the exam again and qualify with a valid score.
