The incident took place on October 8, 2021, when an Air India flight, AI-317, caught fire at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The flight was scheduled to depart for Moscow, Russia, with 182 passengers on board.
The fire started in the auxiliary power unit (APU) of the aircraft, which is a small engine located at the rear of the plane that provides power when the main engines are turned off.
Passengers and crew were immediately evacuated from the aircraft using emergency slides, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the plane.
The incident caused a temporary closure of the runway at the airport, leading to delays in other flights.
Air India officials stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also initiated a safety audit of Air India following the incident.
Air India has a fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which have been plagued by technical issues in the past.
