Devin Booker was born on October 30, 1996, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is of mixed race, with his mother being Mexican-American and his father being African-American.
Booker attended Moss Point High School in Mississippi, where he was a standout basketball player. He was rated as a five-star recruit and committed to play college basketball at the University of Kentucky.
In his lone season at Kentucky, Booker averaged 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and helped lead the Wildcats to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.
Booker declared for the 2015 NBA Draft and was selected with the 13th overall pick by the Phoenix Suns. He quickly made an impact in the league, earning a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
