Hemant Soren is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Jharkhand, a state located in eastern India. He is a prominent leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), a regional political party that primarily represents the interests of the indigenous tribal population of Jharkhand.

Born on August 10, 1975, in Nemra village of Ramgarh district in Jharkhand, Hemant Soren comes from a political family. His father, Shibu Soren, is a veteran politician and has served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand multiple times. Growing up in a politically active household, Hemant developed a keen interest in politics from an early age.

Hemant Soren completed his schooling from Patna High School and later pursued his graduation from Ramgarh College. However, he did not stop at a bachelor's degree and went on to obtain a Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Delhi.

In 2009, Hemant Soren made his political debut by contesting the assembly elections from the Dumka constituency in Jharkhand. Following the JMM's victory in the elections, Hemant Soren was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on July 13, At the age of 38, he became the youngest Chief Minister of the state.

During his tenure as Chief Minister, Hemant Soren focused on addressing the issues faced by the tribal population of Jharkhand. In the 2019 assembly elections, he led the JMM, along with the Indian National Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal, to a comprehensive victory. On December 29, 2019, he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the second time.
