Château d'If

Château d'If is a fortress located on the island of If, just off the coast of Marseille, France. Built in 1524, the castle was originally used as a prison and was made famous by Alexandre Dumas' novel The Count of Monte Cristo. The castle is now a popular tourist attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into its history and a stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea. The castle is open to the public and can be reached by boat from the Old Port of Marseille. Visitors can explore the castle's dungeons, ramparts, and towers, as well as the chapel and the governor's residence.
