Osaka Castle

Osaka Castle is a Japanese castle located in Chūō-ku, Osaka, Japan. It is one of Japan's most famous landmarks and it played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century of the Azuchi-Momoyama period. The main tower of Osaka Castle is situated on a plot of land roughly one square kilometer. The central castle building is five stories on the outside and eight stories on the inside, and built atop a tall stone foundation, which is surrounded by several layers of fortifications. The castle is built out of ferroconcrete and stone, and the exterior is decorated with white plastered earthen walls and black tiles. The interior of the castle is filled with historical artifacts, including a museum, a shrine, and a tea house. The castle also features a large park with cherry blossom trees, a moat, and several turrets.
