La Lonja de la Seda - Valencia - Spain
La Lonja de la Seda
La Lonja de la Seda (Silk Exchange) is a Gothic-style civil building in Valencia, Spain. It was built in the 15th century and is considered one of the most important examples of civil Gothic architecture in Europe. The building is composed of three parts: the Sala de Contratacion (Contract Hall), the Consulado del Mar (Consulate of the Sea) and the Casa de la Contratacion (House of Contract). The Sala de Contratacion is the most impressive part of the building, with its high vaulted ceilings and ornate decorations. The Consulado del Mar was used as a court of justice for maritime affairs, while the Casa de la Contratacion was used as a warehouse for goods. La Lonja de la Seda is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is open to the public for visits.
