History

Las Vegas, Nevada, is a city with a rich and vibrant history. Located in the Mojave Desert, Las Vegas has been a popular destination for travelers since the early 1900s. The city was founded in 1905 by railroad magnate William A. Clark, who purchased the land from the federal government. Clark envisioned a city that would be a major stop on the Union Pacific Railroad, and he named it after the Spanish phrase for “the meadows”.
