Torre del Oro - Seville - Spain
Torre del Oro
Torre del Oro is a 13th-century military watchtower located in Seville, Spain. It is situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir River and is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. The tower was built by the Almohad dynasty in the 1220s and was used to control access to the river. It is a cylindrical structure made of brick and stone, with a conical roof and a balcony at the top. The tower is covered in a distinctive golden-colored tiles, which is where it gets its name (Torre del Oro means "Tower of Gold"). The tower is now a museum and is open to the public.
