Parliament House in Canberra, Australia is the meeting place of the Parliament of Australia, located in the national capital of Canberra. The building was opened on 9 May 1988 by Queen Elizabeth II. It was built on the site of the former Parliament House, which was demolished in The building is located on Capital Hill, the highest point in the city, and is surrounded by a large park. The building is made up of two chambers, the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as a number of offices and meeting rooms. The building is designed in a modern style, with a large central courtyard and a large glass dome at the top. The building is also home to a number of artworks, including a large tapestry depicting the history of Australia.
