Castel Sant'Angelo
Castel Sant'Angelo is a towering cylindrical fortress located in Rome, Italy. It was originally built as a mausoleum for the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. The castle has served many purposes over the centuries, including a fortress, a prison, and a papal residence. Today, it is a museum and a popular tourist attraction. The castle is situated on the right bank of the Tiber River and is connected to St. Peter's Basilica by the famous Passetto di Borgo, a fortified corridor. The castle is surrounded by a large moat and is topped with a bronze statue of the Archangel Michael. Inside, visitors can explore the castle's many chambers, including the Hall of the Popes, the Hall of the Emperors, and the Hall of the Angels.
