Heijo Palace Ruins

Heijo Palace Ruins is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Nara, Japan. It was the imperial palace of the Nara period (710-784) and the first permanent capital of Japan. The ruins are located in the center of Nara Park and are surrounded by a large moat. The palace was built on a grand scale, with a large central courtyard surrounded by a number of buildings, including the main hall, the imperial residence, and the administrative offices. The palace was destroyed by fire in 784, but the ruins remain and are now a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can explore the ruins and learn about the history of the palace and the Nara period.
