Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the British monarch. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is a setting for state occasions and royal hospitality. It has been a focus for the British people at times of national rejoicing and mourning. The palace is a Grade I listed building and is surrounded by a large private garden. The palace has 775 rooms, including 19 state rooms, 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. The palace also contains the Royal Mews, a state-of-the-art stable complex housing the royal carriages and horses. The palace is a popular tourist attraction, with visitors able to tour the State Rooms and the Queen's Gallery.
