Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor is a United States Navy deep-water naval base located in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet and is the home port of the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet. On December 7, 1941, the Japanese Imperial Navy launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, killing more than 2,400 Americans and destroying or damaging 19 U.S. Navy ships. The attack on Pearl Harbor was a pivotal moment in World War II and led to the United States' entry into the war. Today, Pearl Harbor is a National Historic Landmark and is home to the USS Arizona Memorial, which honors the 1,177 sailors and Marines who lost their lives in the attack. The memorial is one of the most visited sites in Hawaii and is a popular tourist destination.
