Monolithos Castle - Rhodes - Greece
Monolithos Castle
Monolithos Castle is a medieval fortress located on the east coast of the Greek island of Rhodes. It was built in the 15th century by the Knights of St. John, who were the rulers of the island at the time. The castle is situated on a rocky outcrop, and its walls are made of large blocks of stone, giving it its name, which means "single rock" in Greek. The castle is surrounded by a deep moat, and its entrance is guarded by two towers. Inside the castle, there are several rooms, including a chapel, a kitchen, and a guardroom. The castle also has a large courtyard, which is used for events and festivals. Monolithos Castle is a popular tourist attraction, and it offers stunning views of the Aegean Sea.
