Sarnath
Sarnath is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site located in the city of Varanasi, India. It is the place where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of Kondanna. Sarnath is also the site of the famous Dhamekh Stupa, a large cylindrical structure that is believed to mark the spot where the Buddha preached his first sermon. The Dhamekh Stupa is surrounded by several other monuments, including the Ashoka Pillar, the Chaukhandi Stupa, and the Dharmarajika Stupa. The ruins of the ancient city of Sarnath are also located here, and the site is home to several important Buddhist temples and monasteries.
