Byodo-in Temple
Byodo-in Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Uji, Kyoto, Japan. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto. The temple was built in 1053 by Fujiwara no Yorimichi, and is a classic example of Heian period architecture. The temple is best known for its Phoenix Hall, a two-story building with a distinctive curved roof. The hall is home to a statue of Amida Buddha, which is said to be the most beautiful in Japan. The temple grounds also feature a pond, gardens, and a variety of other buildings. Byodo-in Temple is a popular tourist destination and is considered one of the most beautiful temples in Japan.
