Oxford Castle - Oxford - United Kingdom
Oxford Castle
Oxford Castle is a large, partly ruined Norman medieval castle situated in the city of Oxford, England. It was originally built in 1071 by Robert D'Oyly, a Norman baron, and was used as a royal fortress and prison until the late 18th century. The castle is now a tourist attraction, with a museum, a chapel, and a crypt. The castle is also home to the Oxford Castle Unlocked experience, which offers visitors a unique insight into the history of the castle and its inhabitants. The castle is surrounded by a large earthwork and stone wall, and the remains of the original motte and bailey castle can still be seen.
