Sheldonian Theatre - Oxford - United Kingdom
Sheldonian Theatre
The Sheldonian Theatre is a Grade I listed building in Oxford, United Kingdom. It was built between 1664 and 1669 to a design by Christopher Wren for the University of Oxford. It is named after Gilbert Sheldon, the chancellor of the university at the time and is now used for music concerts, lectures, and university ceremonies. The theatre is a circular building with a domed roof and a large semi-circular auditorium. It is decorated with a series of painted panels depicting the history of the university, and the walls are lined with busts of famous scholars. The theatre is also home to the Oxford University Press, which is located in the basement.
