St. Thomas Mount
St. Thomas Mount is a small hillock located in Chennai, India. It is believed to be the place where St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, was martyred in 72 AD. The mount is home to a 16th century Portuguese-built church, which is dedicated to St. Thomas. The mount is also home to a shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Expectation, which is believed to have been built by St. Francis Xavier. The mount is a popular pilgrimage site for Christians, and is visited by thousands of devotees every year.
