Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) is a museum located in the heart of Mumbai, India. It was formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India. It was founded in the early 20th century by prominent citizens of Bombay, with the help of the government, to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay. The museum houses a wide range of artifacts from ancient India, including sculptures, coins, paintings, manuscripts, and other artifacts from the Indus Valley Civilization, the Mauryan Empire, the Gupta Empire, and the Mughal Empire. It also houses a large collection of artifacts from the colonial period, including coins, paintings, and furniture. The museum also has a library and a conservation laboratory. CSMVS is a popular tourist destination in Mumbai and is visited by thousands of people every year.
