Elephanta Caves
Elephanta Caves are a network of sculpted caves located on Elephanta Island in Mumbai, India. The caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and contain rock cut stone sculptures of Hindu gods and goddesses dating back to the 5th and 8th centuries. The main cave features a 20-foot-tall (6 m) statue of the Hindu god Shiva, as well as other carvings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. The caves are a popular tourist destination and are accessible by ferry from the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
