Kanheri Caves
Kanheri Caves are a group of ancient Buddhist caves located in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai, India. The caves are located on the western side of the park and are believed to have been carved out of the basalt rock during the 1st century BCE to the 5th century CE. The caves consist of 109 cells, carved chaityas (Buddhist shrines), viharas (monasteries), and several paintings and sculptures. The caves are a popular tourist destination and are known for their intricate carvings and sculptures. The Kanheri Caves are also a popular pilgrimage site for Buddhists.
